Brewhouse Bash!
Or
“Oi! Who d’ya fink yer lookin’ at?”

Original concept created by Alan Merett, Robin Dews, Paul Sawyer, Gordon
Davidson and Jim Butler.
This version created by Dave Brugman, Leander Dado, Martijn Nas, Rogier van
Oudheusden, Frank Peeters and Roel Rutgers and play-tested by many members
of Gaming Club Hive Novio from Nijmegen, Holland. Thanks!

It’s every Orc for himself!
The Brewhouse Bash is a game for any number of players. In fact, the more
players you have, the rowdier and more fun it gets! The object of the game
is simple – you are quietly sitting in a bar, enjoying your fungus beer and
perhaps a roast Spider Squig or juicy Squig kebab, when suddenly a huge
ruckus breaks out! Being a greenskin, you can’t resist the temptation to
join and so a massive scrap develops. The game ends when all but one of the
greenskins have slumped unconscious to the floor, leaving the last greenskin
standing as the winner!

Setting up
Firstly, you’ll need a pub. One with a bar, tables, toilets, an emergency
exit, windows, drunken Squigs in corners, saucy Orc pin-ups on the toilet
walls and anything else you can come up with! Be as creative as you can, and
keep in mind that you’re building a greenskin pub. So don’t worry too much
about neatness, as long as you make sure to divide the floor plans in
squares of roughly one inch your pub will do fine.
Furthermore, you’ll need counters for chairs and bottles, plates, etcetera.
You’ll need about twelve chairs and about sixteen bottles and plates. The
Dwarf plastic sprue has some small beer vats and mugs that can be used,
chairs can be built from balsa wood and plates can be made from old buttons
or shields (with green stuff meat if you’re really talented!).
Off course you’ll also need models. We use Blood Bowl greenskins, but you
can also use standard greenskin models with the weapons removed.
Finally, you’ll have to have at least one D6 to play and some pens and paper
to note down the greenskin’s Wounds and Skills – but some differently
coloured D6’s are also great for this job.

Place the counters for chairs, bottles and plates on the board. Plates and
bottles must be set up on tables, while chairs need to be on the floor.

Next you’ll need to allocate Wounds and Skills to each model. Each greenskin
starts with a random number of Wounds, representing the amount of bashin’ he
can take before he’ll pass out. Each Orc has D3+3 Wounds. To roll a D3,
simply roll a D6 and divide the number by 2, rounding up.

Each player then rolls on the Bashin’ Skills Table. This gives each Orc a
special ability that he can use to hurt other hurts or stay alive longer!
Roll a D6 for every player and note down their Skill. The effects of each
different Skill are described in more detail below.

Bashin’ Skills Table
1: Weep Like a weedy Gobbo!
2: I’m Dead ‘Ard
3: Oi! Come ‘ere!
4: Did you spill my pint?
5: Pick up an’ throw
6: Poke in da eye

1: Weep Like a weedy Gobbo!
Although distasteful, the “Weep like a weedy Gobbo!” ability allows you to
fall to your knees and press your hands to your ears crying “Don’t hit me!
Don’t hit me!” So pitiable and outright sickening is this display that a
model attempting to attack you until your next turn must first roll a 5 or 6
on a D6. Declare that the model is going to attack (in any way whatsoever,
like throwing bottles, piling on, throwing other Orcs in your general
direction and stuff…) before rolling the dice. A Weeping model is being
placed face down on the floor and may only crawl, stand up or Weep again as
his next Action.

2: I’m Dead ‘Ard
You have the uncanny ability to stay on your feet despite being punched,
kicked or having bottles thrown at you! Roll a D6 every time you receive a
Knock Down result on the Bash or Pile On tables. On a 4+ you manage to stay
on your feet, although Wounds are applied normally!

3: Oi! Come ‘ere!
“Oi come ‘ere!” allows you to move a model up to 3 squares using the normal
rules. If you want the model to climb on an obstacle he must first pass a
normal test by rolling anything but a 1 on a D6!

4: Did you spill my pint?
Enraged by the fact that someone spilled your fungus beer, you roam the bar
room looking for the git who knocked your arm. You must combine this skill
with a Bash or Pile On Action in a single attack, and so cannot do anything
else for that turn. “Did You Spill My Pint” allows you to add +1 to your
Bash or Pile On dice roll, though a natural 1 is still a 1 and a natural 6
is still a 6!

5: Pick up an’ throw!
If you are standing adjacent to another model you can attempt to pick him up
and throw him across the room! Roll a D6. On a roll of 4, 5 or 6 you manage
to pick him up. You can now throw him D3 squares. If they collide with a
solid obstacle the movement stops, and if they collide with another model
the thrown model lands in the original square of the target and the target
model is pushed back 1 square. The thrown model automatically suffers a Bash
result when he lands, models he’s thrown into suffer a Pile On attack.

6: Poke in da eye
Quick, before he turns his head! Jab him in the eye with your fingers! Yeah,
go on, it feels nice and squishy in there, scrabble around a bit! Your
opponent howls in fury and cries like a baby Gobbo. With tears streaming
from their eyes they can only make 1 Action in their next Turn.

Finally, each player rolls a D6 to determine who moves first. The player
that rolled the highest score sets up his model first, followed by the next
player clockwise and so on. Models can be set up anywhere on a floor level -
they can't start on a table or simething similar silly.
Once all models have been placed, the player that set up first gets to move
first and the bashin’ begins!

Actions
During their turn, each player can either make two Actions, or do one Action
and use their Skill. You can perform these in any order and perform the same
Action twice if you like, but you cannot use more than one Skill per turn.
The following Actions are possible:

Move
A player may move his model up to 3 squares in any direction. You can not
move through walls. If you want to jump onto the bar, a table, or any other
object, roll a D6. On anything but a 1 you succeed. If you fail this roll,
the Move action ends on the square next to the obstacle.

Stand up
If you’re lying on the floor it takes a Stand Up Action to shake your head
clear and stagger back to your feet.

Crawl along the floor
An action for cowardly Gobbos! You crawl along the floor on your hands and
knees for 1 square. This is the only way to move underneath tables and the
only way of movement when you’re lying on the floor and don’t dare to get
up! Getting down to the floor voluntarily does not use up an action.

Pick up bottle, plate or something similar
If you’re adjacent to a square containing a bottle, plate or other throwing
material, you can pick it up. This counts as 1 Action per item picked up.
Place the bottle by your Wounds and Skill markers to show that you’re
carrying it. As healthy Orcs have two hands, you may carry 2
bottles at once
.

Throw bottle, plate or something similar
If you are carrying a bottle, you can throw it up to D6 squares. If this
reaches another model, the bottle has broken over his head – make a roll on
the Bash Table and remove the counter. If the bottle lands on an empty
square, then it breaks and is removed from the game.

Pick up chair
If you’re adjacent to a square containing a chair, you can pick it up. This
counts as 1 Action per item picked up. Place the chair by your Wounds and
Skill markers to show that you’re carrying it. You can only
carry 1 chair at any time and you can not carry anything else at the same
time
.
If you are carrying a chair when making a Bash or Pile On attack, you get a
+1 to your dice roll, though a natural 1 is still a 1, and a natural 6 is
still a 6. The chair will break and is removed from the game.

Pick up barrel.
This counts as a chair, but it gives +2 to a Bash or Pile On attack.

Bash
If you’re standing next to another model you can take a swing at him. Roll
on the Bash Table and apply the result immediately. If you are standing on a
table, crate or any other object and attacking someone on a lower level, you
can add +1 to your dice roll, though a natural 1 is still a 1, and a natural
6 is still a 6.
If your opponent is on a higher elevation than you, you get a –1 to your
roll, though a natural 1 is still a 1, and a natural 6 is still a 6.
Obviously you can’t reach a model more than an Orc’s height higher or lower
than yourself (use common sense).

Bash Table – roll a D6
1-2 Oooof! No effect. You swing wildly at thin air!
3-4 Bash! You knock your opponent to the ground. Lie the model down in the
square where you hit him.
5 Put the boot in! You knock your opponent to the ground and kick him when
he’s down! Lie the model down as above and knock of a Wound.
6 Punch back! You punch your opponent so violently he gets knocked back
before falling over, clutching his jaw and losing a few teeth. Same as above
but the model is also knocked back 1 square. If this causes the victim to
fall from an elevation higher then once his height, he suffers an additional
Bash result. If he falls from more then twice his height, any wounds
suffered are doubled. If he is knocked back while standing on the stairs,
the victim will roll down the stairs D6 squares (stopping at the bottom of
the stairs).

Divin’ Leap
This action enables you to leap up to D3+1 squares if you are standing on an
elevation no more than once your height. If you are suicidal enough to want
to leap from higher than this, you can jump up to D6+1 squares. If you land
on another model on a lower elevation, you cause an immediate Pile On
attack. Resolve the attack and then move yourself in to any adjacent, vacant
square. If you land on a chair or bottle, it will break and is removed from
the game. Leaping from more then twice your height also causes double wounds
on yourself or the poor unfortunate beneath you, as the case may be!

Pile On
If you’re standing next to a model who is already lying on the floor, then
you can Pile On. This is a far more vicious attack than a Bash as you’re
kicking someone who is already down! You can also make a Pile On attack if
you make a Divin’ Leap.

Pile On table – roll a D6
1 Ouch! You get a knee in the danglies! You are knocked down yourself and
take a wound.
2-5 Put the boot in! You steam in on the haples victim with boots flying.
They lose a wound. If you’ve just performed a Divin’ Leap or been thrown
then they are also knocked down.
6 Give ‘em a kickin’! Same as above, but causes 2 Wounds.

Having no more wounds
Eventually, after being kicked and pummelled by your best mates, your Orc
will have no more Wounds left and at this point, you slump unconscious to
the floor. On each subsequent turn, roll a D6. On a roll of 6, you stagger
to your feet, shouting “Come on den, I’ll ‘ave ya! I’ll take y’all on!!!”
You can continue fighting and moving normally, with one Wound left. When you
loose this Wound, you will slide into unconsciousness again until you roll
another 6!
Unconscious models block the square they lie in, like any other obstacle.
You’ll need to roll anything but a 1 to move over them.

Ending the game
The game ends when there’s only one Orc left standing inside of the bar – Da
winna!
Everyone then staggers to the bar, orders more beer and it all starts again!

-------------------

Additional rules
These rules aren’t necessary to play, but can add a whole new world of fun
to the game.

Different races
Orcs aren’t the only inhabitants of “Da Lokal Pub”. Often, Goblins,
Snotlings and even Squigs will be seen in a bar, brought along by Orcs as
pets or slaves or working in the bar as pets or slaves.
Before you start rolling for Wounds and Skills, roll a D6 to determine your
model’s race. On a roll of 4+ he’s an Orc. On a roll of 1-3, roll again:
1-2: he’s a Squig! 3-6: he’s a Goblin…
Note that you’re never obliged to determine your race, but you can roll for
it if you wish - even if other players don’t want to roll and just become
Orcs.

Goblins
Goblins start with D3+1 Wounds. This is because they are weedy creatures
that can’t stand pain as well as Orcs. Every Goblin automatically has the
“Weep like a Weedy Gobbo” Skill, as well as a second Skill which is
determined by rolling on the Goblin “Skill” Table below. Note that you may
still use only one Skill per turn!
“Weep like a Weedy Gobbo” has no effect on Goblins – they’ll more than
happily kick someone who is lying down and weeping pathetically.

Goblin “Skill” Table
1: Snifflin’ Snotling!!!
2: Dodgy dealings
3: Leggit
4: Scary growl
5: Trip Up
6: Me Is A Little Bit Dead ‘Ard

Snifflin’ Snotling!!!
You’re a Snotling!!! Snotlings start with D3 Wounds. Yes, they are REALLY
weedy! They deduct -1 from any attempt to Bash or Pile On (but a natural 6
is still a 6!) and can throw bottles only D3 squares.

Dodgy dealings
You’re a dodgy fellow, ey? When the model is attacked with thrown bottles or
models, he may dodge the attack on a 4+.

Leggit
This Goblin has some survival instincts (always a Good Thing for Goblins).
When walking, he may move 4 squares instead of three.

Scary growl
You can use this skill when you’re standing adjacent to another model. When
you’re standing next to a Goblin or Snotling, roll a D6: on a 1 nothing
happens, on a 2+ the model will be scared by your growl and moves D3 squares
in a direction of your choice. When standing next to a Squig, roll a D6: on
a 1-2, the Squig will be annoyed and bite you (a bash attack), on a 3-6 you
may move the Squig D6 squares. When standing next to an Orc, roll a D6: on a
1-2 the Orc will only be annoyed and hit you (counts as a bash attack), on a
3-6 the Orc will laugh so hard that he may only make one action in his next
turn.

Trip Up
You sneaky little fellow you… When a model starts his move adjacent to a
standing model with Trip Up and tries to move, roll a D6: on a 5 or 6 the
model trips and is placed prone on the square he was moving to.

Me Is A Little Bit Dead ‘Ard
The same as the Orc version of Dead ‘Ard, but it only works on a 5 or 6
(Goblins) or a 6 (Snotlings).

Squigs
Squigs start the game with D3+3 Wounds. “Weep like a Weedy Gobbo” has no
effect on Squigs – they’ll bite anything standing, lying down, being on a
table or being a table…
All Squigs move D6 squares instead of 3, roll every time AFTER you’ve
declared a Move Action to see how far your Squig will travel this time.
Squigs cannot pick up objects. They may, however, use a special action
called “Gobble”.

Gobble
If you’re adjacent to a square containing a bottle, plate or other throwing
material, you can gobble it up. This counts as 1 Action per item gobbled up.
An item that is gobbled up is removed from the game.

There are many different types of Squig, and therefore you must roll on the
What Kinda Skwik is THAT den? Table to determine your Squig’s particular
“Skill”.

What Kinda Skwik is THAT den? Table
1: Razor Sharp Fanged Squig
2: Regenerating Squig
3: Hopping Squig
4: Squig Hound
5: Squiglet
6: Scaly Squig

Razor Sharp Fanged Squig
Oh my, what big teef ya got! You’re a particulary nasty type of Squig and
you may always add +1 to your Bash or Pile On dice roll, though a natural 1
is still a 1 and a natural 6 is still a 6!

Regenerating Squig
There’s a lot of fungus in this Squig’s genetics. You can try to regenerate
a wound suffered. Roll a D6: on a 4+ you gain a wound you’ve lost before.
You can’t use this skill to get more wounds than you started with, and
neither can it help you regain consciousness after you’ve passed out.

Hopping Squig
This skill is mostly seen on Cave Squigs. You can hop instead of move. This
means that you can move over models and furniture without testing. You can
even move over standing models.

Squig Hound
Canine carnage! After you’ve done a Bash or Pile On attack, you MUST roll a
D6: on a 1-3 nothing happens, on a 4+ you’ve taken a firm grip on your
opponent’s behind. From now on, everywhere he goes you will follow
automatically and at the start of any of his turns he will suffer another
wound on a D6 roll of 5+. Also, all you can do in your own turns is perform
Bash or Pile On actions on the guy you’re biting. You will automatically let
go of your victim as soon as he’s unconscious, or when you get knocked down
or take a wound. You can’t let go of him voluntarily and as long as you’re
attached you don’t have to test for climbing on things (your victim still
has to test, however).

Squiglet
You’re a tiny type of Squig. This enables you to walk between a standing
model’s legs or underneath tables without penalty. You must still test to
climb on objects or over prone models. Also, because you’re so small, when
you’re being attacked in any way you may ignore the result on a D6 roll of 6
(including being picked up, hurt by a thrown player etc.).

Scaly Squig
You’re covered in armour-like scaly skin. Whenever you suffer a wound, roll
a D6. On a 5+ you may ignore the wound, though all other effects of the
attack still apply (pushed back, knocked down etc.)

Bouncers
Bouncers are guys hired by the inn-keeper to make sure that there is no
fighting in a pub. In Orc society, Bouncers are guys hired by the inn-keeper
to try and get the fight outside.
A Bouncer is a Black Orc, which is a very strong kind of Orc. He has D3+4
Wounds and the following skills: I’m Dead ‘Ard, Oi! Come ‘ere! and Pick up
an’ throw.
Pick up an’ throw works on a 3+ for Bouncers, and the model can be thrown
D3+1 squares.
A Bouncer is particularly good at sending (or throwing) people out and
keeping the pub intact. He always starts the game adjacent to the pub’s
entrance, and cannot pick up stuff (his boss does not pay him to break the
chairs).
