Naast mijn vele andere projecten, heb ik hier nog 3 andere DB teams klaar staan
maak je maar geen zorgen dat ik me ga vervelen


"So, Ed, the Basin City Dames against the Austin Babes of Doom. That sounds like a fan's dream come true."
"Before the match the crowd was buzzing, Jake. Two all-female teams facing off against each other was what the fans were hoping for. There's been plenty of girl-on-girl action with the BCD, but this would be the first time it was gonna be on the pitch."
"Yes, Ed. Too bad it was all over so quick."
"A real blink-and-you-miss-it match, Jake. If you were still grabbing a beer from the fridge when the game started, tough luck for you."
"The BCD was still struggling with the result of that 'friendly' in the last round, Ed. Considering the pounding they received, missing one player and a few niggling injuries could be seen as getting of lightly."
"They were lucky there, and of course they received a Forgefather Free Agent to compensate, but you feel that they really missed the fitness for their Running Interference plays and it cost them dearly."
"It started out well. Their Guard Megan cleared a route, and Lisa was on her way to the 3-point zone, hoping she could dodge the last defending Jack."
"Yeah, that Jack clearly wasn't impressed with Lisa's star-performance in her last game and just floored her."
"The ball scatters, ABOD picks it up, and all too easily scores 4 points. The defence there really wasn't up to their usual form. That might not have been much of a problem for BCD, as their other Striker picked up the re-launched ball and had a clear, easy run to the 4-point zone. It all looked set to return to an equal score."
"And then the ball shattered."
"And then the ball shattered, indeed, Ed. Very fortunate timing for ABOD, but despite many formal and informal protests they have been cleared of accusations of sabotage."
"I'm sure that remote control the Coach was holding was just for his TV."
"Quite. And as the BCD was still reeling from that extraordinay turn of events, ABOD picked up the new ball and strolled in for a further 3 points. 7-point landslide, quick as that. The BCD is now firmly stuck near the bottom of the League, I don't see them coming back from this, Ed"
"No, Jake. Luckily the BCD and ABOD shared a changing room and the showers, so none of the fans are complaining."


Spel-technisch gaat het dus niet zo super met het team, maar ik blijf er wel aan doorschilderen
Volgende model is de Forgefather Free Agent

Stoer model, en ziet er goed uit in dit kleurenschema
Goede timing ook, want de laatste laklaag was nog maar net droog afgelopen donderdag, en ik had m meteen nodig.


De Jacks hebben ook mooie 'Running Interference' markers gekregen, door een stel kleine magneten te schilderen


Een stuk charmanter dan die witte stenen die ik tot nu toe gebruikte, en nu vallen ze er ook niet af als ze worden neergeslagen

Dus al die weken dat ik je vertelde hoe handig het is om magneetjes te gebruiken voor RI hebben wel geholpen. Ziet er goed uit zo, heer schildermeester. o/

“Well, the Basin City Dames played 2 matches since our last broadcast, Ed”

“Yep, a Friendly and a proper League match, both against a Forgefather team. A good way to prepare, as being so low in the ratings, the BCD was pretty much guaranteed to be able to choose their opponent.”

“First up were the Trashers In Tartan. A real bottom-of-the-League match, the number last against second-to-last, so in theory it should have been pretty close, Ed”

“Well, the BCD showed they have plenty of experience in handling some TIT’s, Jake.”

“You just had to go there, didn’t you.”

“Impossible to avoid, Jake, just impossible.”

“Well, the BCD game-plan was pretty simple. Keep the Jacks and Guard in your own half to prevent the TIT from scoring, and then send a Striker on a solo to the 3-point zone.”

“Bad news for the Striker, though. They end up on their own, surrounded by a bunch of angry dwarfs with a grudge.”

“Well, it worked. 3 Strikers, each scoring 3 points and you win the match with a landslide, Ed.”

“And with 2 Strikers in the hospital, Jake.”

“That’s Dreadball. High point of the match was when the frustrated TIT’s, already behind, came out of their half with their whole team fully intent on smashing some Dames. BCD number 4, Natalie, dodged and weaved her way out of every Slam attempt and the whole thing ended up in an almighty pile-up of every player on the pitch, with 2 tripped up Forgefathers lying face down in the middle of it. Somehow the last remaining BCD Striker ended up with the ball out of all the chaos, made a final run for the 3-point zone and ended the game.”

“A good result for the Dames, and a good confidence builder for their next match. I’m sure they were able to get over the shock of the sight of those TIT kilts flying up when they tripped over.”

“Indeed, Ed."





"Next up was a proper League match, and the casualties from the Friendly had pretty much recovered by then.”

“They even had the possibility of hiring an MVP. Sticking with their all-girl team they went for Ann-Marie Helder.”

“Quite different from their usual type, Ed.”

“Some people like their women more well-rounded, Jake.”

“Anyway, it didn’t help very much, as Miss Helder insisted on being fielded as a Striker, not exactly her natural strong-point.”

“Yeah, she was pretty useless as a Striker. A frustrated Coach eventually simply substituted her for one of their Jacks.”

“The match itself was pretty exciting, with both teams scoring regularly and not pulling any punches. The Dames were using basically the same gameplan as they did against the TIT. It was a really tense match, when an angry Forgefather slammed the BCD star-Striker Lisa and left her lying dead on the pitch.”

“A real shock went through the crowd at that moment, Jake. For a second there, all seemed lost for the Dames.”

“Turned out it was just the incentive they needed, Ed. Their Guard was already much more impressive than in previous matches, but now she got really angry. Megan saw a chance to slam the Forgefather’s star player, and hit the Striker good and hard. The match had it’s second fatality.”

“You could hear the neck snap from the Press box, Jake. Nothing puts power into a Slam quite like pure rage.”

“It really was the turning point of the match, Ed, as now the Forgefathers had no more Strikers on the field, while the Dames still had two, ánd a Striker Free Agent they hadn’t used so far. The Forgefathers simply couldn’t keep up with the score.”

“And so the Basin City Dames finally had their first win in the League.”

“About time too, Ed.”

“Well, I’m sure there’s plenty of fans who couldn’t care less about the result, they were just glad the team made enough money to pay for Lisa’s resurrection.”

“Yeah, both teams wisely decided to pay the price for bringing their star players back to life, and the Dames even had enough to hire a new Coach. Why is it they couldn’t do that before, Ed? With all those extra sources of income shouldn’t they be the richest team in the League?”

“Well, those girls make a lot of money, Jake. You can be sure they are by far the best paid players in the League, maybe even in all of Dreadball.”

“And do you have any idea what BCD player Ellen was doing in the Forgefathers’ changing room after the match?”

“Well, Jake, the Basin City Collective is really open-minded about their clients’ desires and doesn’t discriminate other species. I suppose even Forgefathers can get a bit curious. But whatever it was you can be sure she was well paid.”

Yep, dat was echt 1 van de meest bizarre situaties die ik op een DB pitch heb gezien
Letterlijk iedere speler op het veld én de scheidsrechter stonden (of lagen) daar in een hoop

"It was the first chance to see the effect of their new Offensive Coach, Libby. Her style of motivation is quite erm.... unique, but the players seem to have responded to it quite well, Ed"

"Oh yes, the threat of being a 'naughty girl' can really encourage a player to try just that bit extra. Incidentally the 'naughty girl'-sessions of players that failed in training last week are available for viewing on the BCD website for a small fee."

"Well, however they achieved it, the extra coaching really made this game look easy for the BCD. The first 3-point score was, as ever, made by Lisa, but the other Strikers are really starting to make an impact as well. After Lisa was taken of the pitch by the Z'zor Keeper, it was Ellen who made all the plays, and she has now overtaken Lisa as the best scoring BCD player. Her ball-handling skills are quite amazing."

"Oh yeah, she does this thing with her tongue..."

"DREADBALL-skills, Ed!"

"Right, right..."

"The Z'zor only came near the scoring zone once, but good interfering play by the BCD Jacks prevented any scoring attempt. Number 4, Kate, even managed to Slam a Z'zor of the pitch, and that is really impressive from a Jack. Those Z'zors are really hard to put down."

"Those bugs require a bit more than a stomp with a shoe, Jake."

"Well, if they keep this up the BCD seem set to make an escape from the bottom of the rankings in this late phase of the League. We're all ready and waiting for round 5."

But in the end ,maybe it just about giving the public what they want, and nothing boosts the ratings like a few beautiful women willing to take their clothes of."

"Plenty of MVP's will make their apearrance this match, Ed. No need to save credits in this last match, so plenty of teams decide to bulk up on extra muscle."
"Absolutely, Ed. Basin City went for Ann-marie Helder again, and this time she did decide to play to her strength as a Guard. TMNT continued their cooperation with the dreaded nr.88, relying on him to score and fielding only their Guards for the smash-work. But it was the Great Old Ones who really pulled out all the stops with Buzzcut, the Preatorian and a Veermyn Striker."

"the Basin City bench also has plenty of strangers, their underdog status gave them an Orc, a Veermyn, and with only 5 players allowed on the field, they have their own players as well. Luckily coach Libby is on hand to make sure everything goes smoothly."

"The balls are launched! And immediately Buzzcut shows no interests whatsoever in that weird round thing and decides to smash the nearest robot."

"Yes, indeed, Ed. The Philips robot team has now completely abandoned defending their own sector, and every team has spotted a scoring opportunity."
"Here comes the BCD for their first 3-pointer. With no opposition it's an easy walk in."

"Meanwhile there's a multi-team effort going on to peg the Judwan back. They're getting very close to being within a match winning score."

"Oh who cares about the score! Look, Buzzcut finally managed to dislodge Ann-Marie and get to his feet. Let's see some Slams!"
"Here comes John Dwayneson. He's not been on his usual impressive form, and it looks like he's got a point to prove."

"And Buzzcut's down again! But wait... John's not finished yet."

"And the Terraton's down too. That guy is definitely this League's standout Guard."

"But here come the Judwan. They only need 2 points to get to 7 and finish the match."

Reden dat ik weer eens in dit Topic rondkijk, is dat ik na Chabal weer eens wat meer DB modellen onder een kwast heb gehouden

Allereerst mijn scheidsrechter-robot



Uiteindelijke doel is dat ik een compleet bord met meerdere teams heb, zodat ik dit (relatief) simpele spel kan demo-en aan mijn niet-wargamende vrienden en familie


Een 2e team is dus de volgende stap
Orcs zijn cool, en ze zijn het andere team uit de start-set, dus de logische tegenstander van mijn mensen-team



Nog WIP, maar al het niet-pantser is af
Ook meteen wat extra spelers en een Keeper mee geschilderd, zodat ze meteen klaar zijn voor evt. uitbreidingen van een League


In deze staat hebben ze met de feestdagen vorige week een pot gespeeld tegen mijn moeder (!)

Wat ik met al die pupkes doe is al jaren een compleet mysterie voor mijn familie, en dit gaf toch een mooie gelegenheid om daar wat meer inzicht in te geven.

Een groot compliment voor de regels is toch wel dat ik in 1 avond met mijn moeder, met nul ervaring in dit soort spellen, een volle match heb kunnen spelen, compleet met alle kaart-regels en Fouls

Ik speelde de Orcs, mijn moeder de Mensen (ik gebruikte de regels voor het 'standaard' mensen team, niet het dames-team met de wat ingewikkeldere Running Interference)
Mijn onervarenheid met de Orcs, gecombineerd met een extreem geval van beginnersgeluk, zorgde er voor dat mijn moeder al snel met 6-0 voor stond
Mijn Orcs begonnen toen eindelijk wat rake klappen uit te delen, en ik kon het verschil wat terug brengen, maar na beurt 14 had mijn moeder toch met 2-0 gewonnen

Binnenkort de rest van de familie maar s lastig gaan vallen
